The same rule applies to both: English Verbs and Nouns. 

English Nouns:

The interesting point to remember is when an 's' or 'es' is added to a Noun, it becomes plural, for example - Pen + s = Pens, Brush + es = Brushes. Singular noun becomes plural. 

Examples: I have a pen. My brother has two pens.

English Verbs:

However, when an 's' or 'es' is added to a Verb, it becomes Singular, for example - Run + s = Runs, Rush + es = Rushes. Singular noun becomes plural. 

Examples: I run. My brother runs.
