Past simple or Past Indefinite tense
The past simple tense, also known as the simple past tense, is used to describe completed actions or states that occurred at a specific time in the past. It is often used to talk about events that happened and finished in the past.
Here are some examples of sentences in the past simple tense:
I walked to the store yesterday.
She studied French in high school.
They visited their grandparents last weekend.
He played soccer with his friends yesterday.
We watched a movie last night.
The concert started at 8 p.m.
Did you see that movie?
She didn't finish her homework on time.
We lived in that city for five years.
They won the championship last year.
In these examples, the verbs "walked," "studied," "visited," "played," "watched," "started," "did," "didn't," "lived," and "won" are in the past simple tense, indicating that the actions or states described occurred and were completed in the past.
