Present Simple or Present Indefinite Tense
The present simple tense is one of the basic verb tenses used in English. It is used to talk about general truths, habitual actions, and permanent situations. Here's the basic structure of the present simple tense:
Subject + Verb (base form) + Object
Here are some examples:
1. I play tennis every Sunday.
2. He always eats breakfast before leaving for work.
3. The sun rises in the east.
4. We live in a big house.
5. They speak French fluently.
In these examples, the verbs "play," "eat," "rise," "live," and "speak" are in the present simple tense. Note that the third-person singular (he, she, it) form of the verb usually takes an "-s" or "-es" ending.
It's important to remember that the present simple tense does not indicate actions happening at the moment of speaking. Instead, it describes regular, repeated, or permanent actions.
